Simple Activities for a Healthier Lifestyle

Here are some activities to promote and stabalize emotional balance:
  • Take some time to define what makes you happy and what makes you upset. Increase the happy things in your life and try to stay away from those things that cause you upset.
  • Get enough sleep so that you wake up feeling rested and ready to tackle another day.
  • Increase food intake rich in Omega-3 such as fish, flax seed and nuts.
  • Engage in regular exercise to help reduce anxiety and depression.
  • Keep a journal of your moods to better identify the range of emotions you experience and what may be related or precipitants to emotional change.
  • Make every attempt to resolve interpersonal conflicts as this will remove tension from your system.
  • Put your emotions into words and express yourself orally or in writing. This gets the emotional energy out of your body where it can do potential harm.
  • Breathe deeply to relax your body, and meditate or pray on a daily basis. This will help to remove stress from your life.
  • Be intimate and express love in an appropriate manner.
  • Give unconditionally, it will make the other person feel good, and make you feel good about yourself too.
  • Reflect and identify the great things about yourself to boost your confidence and security.
  • Develop and nurture friendships, have fun, laugh, and celebrate the little things in life.
  • For every negative thing that you might think or say, make a conscious effort to turn it into a positive.
  • Send one positive statement to somebody everyday.
  • Maintain a conscious monitor of how you are doing emotionally every day. Be the watcher of your thoughts and emotions.
  • Make an effort to perceive the emotions in others, particularly the nonverbal, and help if necessary.
  • Smile more!
  • Think a positive thought for each experience.
  • Increase your daily time outside. Connect with nature and appreciate the beauty in simplicity.
  • Give yourself 30 minutes a day to find your center and clear your mind.
  • Get off the bus several blocks from home and walk the rest of the way.
  • Take the stairs instead of elevators and escalators.
  • Eat a large breakfast and a smaller lunch and dinner. This gives your body plenty of time to metabolize and burn off the calories.
  • Use Meditation, prayer, yoga, and other relaxation procedures to guide you towards relaxed states.
  • Learn to say no to things that are unhealthy or have negative effects on your emotional or physical well being.
  • Try to avoid going to bed feeling stuffed from eating.
  • Consume only 80% of what you intend to eat at every meal.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and a sense of control over your life.
  • Drink more water.
  • Identify your personal roadblocks and breakdown your resistance to slowly change your behaviors towards a more healthy brain.
