The human brain starts slowing down as early as age 25. Scientific research has started to show that we can stay mentally fit.
The brain has the ability to create new neural connections and pathways, at any age. This can be used as a sort of "brain savings account" that can be used later in life.
In 2006, the ACTIVE Study, funded by the National Institutes of Health, demonstrated that adults could improve their brain functions with the correct training. Some of the gains from training were seen to be beneficial 5 years later.
